August was a solid month for home sales in the city of Hawthorne in the South Bay of Los Angeles. The median list price for the months was
$699,000 and the median sales price was $700,000 indicating that it’s still a strong sellers market at the moment. The lowest sale of the month was $330,000 for a 2 bedroom/2 bath condo with the highest sale of the month being a whopping $1,180,000 for a 4 bedroom, 1700+ foot single family home on Clyde Park in the neighborhood of Hollyglen. Pretty unbelievable! Surprisingly none of the homes that sold in August were located in the gated community of 36o South Bay which often drives overall home values up a bit.

both Lawndale and Gardena. What makes the area special is that it has a very different look and feel from other parts of both of those cities. It consist of primarily 1940’s and 1950’s era post WWII homes. They were well built beach bungalow type tract homes with usually 3 bedrooms and often around 1,100 square feet. Many added square footage over the years and while some are still in fairly original condition most have been remodeled and improved over the years.
