Next to the Bodger Park area of Hawthorne is the charming neighborhood of El Camino Village. It’s somewhat of a made up name as it actually consist of parts in both Lawndale and Gardena. What makes the area special is that it has a very different look and feel from other parts of both of those cities. It consist of primarily 1940’s and 1950’s era post WWII homes. They were well built beach bungalow type tract homes with usually 3 bedrooms and often around 1,100 square feet. Many added square footage over the years and while some are still in fairly original condition most have been remodeled and improved over the years.
The neighborhood consists of quiet, tree lined streets. There is real pride of ownership in the neighborhood with most homes having nice curb appeal and great grassy front yards. The local elementary school is just down the street and it’s a great place to call home. The borders of the area are generally Marine to the north, Manhattan Beach Blvd to the south, Prairie to the west and Crenshaw to the east. Nearby highlights are Alondra Park, Alondra Golf Course and Bodger Park.
